The first edition of "From Nashville To Kentucky" was created on February 20, 2000 and went online four days later.
Through the years it grew bigger and bigger and eventually it was closed around it's 5th anniversary.

This part of the original site has not been continued with the launch of the second edition on February 6, 2005.
However, the information on this page is as accurate as possible ... please get if you have any piece of information to add ...


On this page you will mainly find an alphabetical listing of songs (known to be) covered by My Morning Jacket.
Included is information on the My Morning Jacket version(s), the original version (writer, performer), and other known cover versions.

BUT, the first part of this page contains information on My Morning Jacket songs covered by other artists. For now the following cover versions are known to me: the Belgian band Venus In Flames played a great version of I Will Be There When You Die live at the Marktrock festival in Leuven, Belgium in July 2000! This was broadcast by Studio Brussel, at least one time in December 2001, when Jim was in the Studio Brussel studio for an interview and an acoustic session.

Also, the Louisville cover band Gigolo Gypsy did a live cover version of Heartbreakin Man somewhere late 2000 or early 2001 at the Dutch's Tavern. KC Guetig wrote: "I witnessed it personally at a bar down the street from my house called Dutch's Tavern. This was before I was officially in the band, so no one had any idea that I knew the drum part as well. The rendition wasn't bad, though it was odd to hear a woman singing JJ's lyrics."

On May 31, 2002 in Dallas TX, the band Slobberbone closed the live-set with their song Haze of Drink. As they were finishing it up, and they were all strumming along and closing out the song Brent Best, the vocalist, closed the song by paying hommage to My Morning Jacket by singing the first line of The Dark, "Trapped in gasoline....", and then he said "Lizard" kind of quietly, but not the rest of it (the line is: "Trapped in gasoline, a lizard on a string, no one ever screams any more"). During the June 22, 2002 show at Dan's, Denton, TX, Brent Best also sang parts of The Dark, and Picture Of You.

A similar thing was done by the band Centro-matic, who played Phone Went West live during a show in the Fall of 2001. They also played a part of the same song on August 23, 2002 in Dallas TX!

On October 21, 2002 the German FSK Sunday Service label (distribution Hausmusik) released the self-titled album by the (also German) singer-songwriter duo Künnecke & Smukal. It includes the My Morning Jacket song Death Is The Easy Way, and is available on CD and LP. Künnecke & Smukal also performed the song live on a Sunday Service radioshow on October 14, 2002.
