My Morning Jacket live at the Theater of Living Arts, Philadelphia, PA, May 2, 2003 Posted by Sundance Kid at the My Morning Jacket Forum: First Off - Below are the songs they played ... I can't recall the order from Tenn. Fire HeartBreakin' The Dark The Bear from At Dawn Lowdown The Way that He Sings Bermuda Highway (Jim - solo) Phone Went West (encore) from Split EP O the One That is Real from It Still Moves Dancin Floor Mahgeeta One Big Holiday Steam Engine I Will Sing You Songs ReCap: Great Show. It seemed that MMJ just didn't want to leave the stage. After closing the set with a rousing Mahgeeta, Jim came back on to play some acoustic numbers. Easily one of my favorite parts of an MMJ show is when the crowd grows completely silent to hear the acoustic bits ... He played Bermuda Highway and a second song - I don't think it was a cover, but it could've been. After the second acoustic number Jim said "Should I bring the boys back out?" you can guess what the asnwer was. They launched into an amazingly tight version of O the One .... I hope they play this song during every set of every show -- it errupts like a volcano. Another full-on song followed - could've been a cover, could've been that Easy Mornin' Rebel we have seen popping up on set lists as of late. Phone Went brought the house down and closed the show - for real this time. The new songs are starting to take on lives of their own. One Big Holiday has now reached a massive, life-affirming status. Dance Floors and Mahgeeta have a similar swagger to them. I Will Sing You Songs and Steam Engine appear to have a consistent lyrical strand - I don't know how they're gonna sound on the new LP but at this point, I consider them companion pieces to each other. So that's about it from me. The recent additions of I Will Sing You Songs and Steam Engine to the set have really piqued my interest for the new one ...
