* "Long Long Gone" is credited to Frankie Lee Sims on the "Ramblin' Jeffrey Lee & Cypress Grove with Willie Love" album, but it originally is a traditional called "Lost John".
It's about an escaped prisoner with a master trick: "Long John made a special pair of shoes. Just as good a shoes as was ever were worn. Had heels in front and heels behind. You couldn't tell whichaway Lost John gwine". In 1920 W.C. Handy worked this theme out in vaudeville blues "Long Gone John/Lost John Dean From Bowling Green", telling the story of an escaped bankrobber from the Bowling Green prison. They let him go to test some new bloodhounds, and while you don't trick these monsters with double heeled shoes, this John was gone for good, straight into legend.

Frankie Lee Sims was the first to call the song "Long Long Gone" after it had been recorded as "Lost John", "Long Gone Lost John" (by Papa Charlie Jackson (1928), who also gets credits for the lyrics), "Lost John Dean", "Long Gone", "Long Gone From Bowling Green, and as "Long John Green". Afterwards it also has been recorded as "Long Gone Like A Turkey Through The Corn", "Lost John He's Gone, and as "Lost John He's Gone]".

As released on the "Anarchic Blues" LP/CD (Music Melon/Mischief Music, 2011).

Tracks 9-11 appear on the CD as one long track. Track 14 is not listed on the sleeve, but is included on the CD as part of track 13. Tracks 9-11, and 14 do not appear on the LP.

The sound is a bit muffled, my own transfer of my 1st generation tape is much clearer. This release also has those annoying 0.2 seconds gaps between the tracks. This also happened on the "The Life And Times Of Jeffrey Lee Pierce" 4CD boxed set. The people releasing this stuff are simply plain stupid!!
