Audience recording. It only includes the last four tracks, because the recording of the rest of the show failed and only the encore was worth keeping, as the taper vaguely recalls.

As released on the "Moonlight Motel" bootleg LP (Superb Productions, 1985; reissued as "The Enigma Of Desire" in 2000) and official LP/CD (Cleopatra 2014). Note that where this is one continuous recording on the original 1985 "Moonlight Motel" LP (except for the switch between sides A and B = between tracks 5 and 6), on the 2014 CD each track is faded in and out creating silence between the tracks. I don't know about the LP reissue. However, in my opinion such is pretty stupid to do with a live recording!

These tracks are supposedly released on a white label (and generic white sleeve) bootleg 7" vinyl single. See this Symphony of Ghosts blog post from
January 12, 2009 where I found details on this release (as well as the image on
the left and the MP3s in my collection). As suggested there these two tracks may have been taken from the "Moonlight Motel" bootleg LP (see above). They do not come from the
"Sex Beat 81" LP since that doesn't include any tracks from this show.

Audience recording. The tape was originally bought in 1989 at Runway Records in Covent Garden. At the time it was only known that it was recorded in Munich in 1984, probably at the Alabamahalle, but the exact date and venue were unknown at the time. Also the generation is (still) unknown.

As released on the "Trigger Treat" bootleg CDr (SuperSonicScientists SSS 079). This CDr is about three minutes shorter than the above tape transfer. It has been remastered way too loud, the tape transfer is much more natural sounding. Also, the CDr has those annoying 0.2 seconds mini gaps between the tracks caused by not splitting the separate tracks on sectory boundaries before burning to CDr! Oh well, bootleggers are just plain stupid!

This show appeared as a bonus disc with the 2009 Cooking Vinyl CD reissue of "The Las Vegas Story" and it turned out to be exactly the same as my transfer which I originally burned on CDr
and swapped with other fans (through which it found its way into circulation as the two mentioned downloads above show). The track separation is identical to what I made. Cooking Vinyl only 'remastered' it a bit (read: pumped up the volume; it is even slightly clipped at some points). I must say that I was a bit disappointed to find out that a label with a good reputation like Cooking Vinyl released this. |
