WARD DOTSON: guitar/slide guitar
Violin on "Promise Me" Tito Larriva
Tracks 1-2, 6-8 produced by Chris D. engineered by Pat Burnette at Quad Teck Released on LP by Ruby Records (1981, w/ green instead of the well known yellow 'spots' - see also the Italian 1982 release below - but some have been seen with yellow 'spots' as well), Slash Records (1981, the 'sawtooth' sleeve), New Rose Records (1982, the 'grey' sleeve), and Beggars Banquet (1982, yellow 'spots'). Released on MC by Slash Records (1981, the 'sawtooth' sleeve), New Rose Records (1982, the 'grey' sleeve), and Big Time Records. Reissued on MC by Slash Records/London Records (yellow 'spots') in 1993. Released on CD by New Rose Records (the 'grey' sleeve) in 1986, and by Slash Records/London Records (yellow 'spots') in 1993. In Italy issued in 1982 on Expanded Music, which has the background of the front cover in violet and the background of the back cover in green. The front cover has the green 'spots' instead of the well known yellow ones. The Italian pressing sounds different too, it has a darker, and more compressed sound, probably due to some incompetent mastering or something like that. The french New Rose LP version has been reissued in 1987 as a limited edition gatefold sleeve blue vinyl version of 3,000 individually numbered copies. In April 2000 reissued on CD by the french Last Call Records, to celebrate the album's 20th anniversary. The same mastertape as for the 'original' New Rose CD was used for this issue, and the original New Rose sleeve was slightly altered (see the scan on the right). On January 16, 2001 another reissue on CD by Rhino Records, using the sleeve with the yellow 'spots'. Spanish independent label Munster Records rereleased "Fire of Love" on 220 gram vinyl in July 2003, using the sleeve with the green 'spots', and with liner notes by Lindsay Hutton (Next Big Thing).

Beware of counterfeits!
On August 5, 2001 (and again on more than one occasion after that date), I spotted a version of this 12" single, which was
in an all black sleeve with in white lettering on the front 'The Gun Club', and on the
back the tracklisting. Except for a barcode (4 058110 297564) there's no sign of a recordcompany or cat.no. on the sleeve.
The label of the record however has Chrysalis as the recordcompany and cat.no. 749 005 (© 1983). BEWARE, this is a
counterfeit! According to one source it has been released in 1999, together with the "Miami" LP. See also
above for a counterfeit release of the "Fire Of Love" LP.

Released on LP/MC by Dojo Records/Castle Communications. Tracks 1-7 are the regular (album) versions, and tracks 8-13 are the same versions as on "The Birth The Death The Ghost". The 'unique' part of this release, besides the cover and such, is that "The Las Vegas Story" is the 'intro' for "Death Party" instead of "Walking With The Beast" as it is on the "The Las Vegas Story" album. To get a clearer picture of the tracklisting and the credits on the backside, just click on it!

thank you) in March 1992 in Utrecht-Holland in the club called Tivoli. The f.o.h.-engineer &
tourmanager was Steve Hawkins. On request of Pfh productions the DAT-tape was mastered and
edited by Peter Rave at The Masters in Soest-Holland as discussed with Jeffrey Lee Pierce.
Note: Jeffrey's guitar was equiped by the original London based guitartechnician of Jimi Hendrix...
On stage were: J.L. Pierce (guitar/vocals), Romi (bass/vocals), Kid (guitar), Simon Fish (drums)."

Until June 1998 I didn't know about any Gun Club or Jeffrey Lee Pierce video releases. At that time I was doing a tape trade with Aurelio from Italy, and he offered a Gun Club video for trading. The video turned out to be a release from Visionary Communications. They released two Gun Club videos a few years ago, and have both still available. Aurelio also gave me the URL for iMVS Limited (called Yalplay since August 1999), where both videos still can be ordered too. And when I was browsing the web for more information on both videos I found out they were also available through CDnow.
Also check section III for more Gun Club on video!
Original archive footage of The Gun Club filmed live at The Hacienda Club, Manchester, April 20, 1983.
Released as a Wide Angle Collectors Edition by Visionary Communications (JE248) in January 1994.
Running time approx. 55 mins.
Also released by Jettisoundz (Australia) in 1994.
Personal source: original video -> VHS PAL video
Liner notes by Saucerman, December 1994:
"I am all dressed up like Elvis" ... Screamed Jeffrey Lee Pierce the first time I met him all those years ago. The Gun Club have always been special to me. Hell, for 5 years or so I ran the official fan club, a small but important part of the Gun Club machine. I saw the high and the lows and done told the truth to all the loyal fans the world over.
What you now hold in your greasy palms, Daddyo, is a document of film that covers a killer show from their 1984 (Las Vegas Story) UK tour. It's all here... The return of Kid Congo Powers (via the Cramps) and Terry Graham behind the drums once again... It's one hell of a show that will have you wanting for more... Now turn on and tune in to the Death Party...
Recorded live at The Hacienda Club, Manchester, October 26, 1984.
Released in the Wide Angle Collection by Visionary Communications (JE276) in March 1995.
Running time approx. 60 mins.
