Originally scheduled for release as "At Dawn & Tennessee Fire Demos" (DRL 149) on September 7, 2004, and available
for pre-order at the Darla website since early July 2004!! Thereafter the scheduled
date of release changed many times (to October 4, 2004; March 7, 2005; October 10, 2005; February 14, 2006; May 15-16, 2006). The title
and cat.no. changed somewhere early 2006. In April 2006 the release date was moved ahead again, from June 12, 2006 to February 1, 2007,
and again it seems to be delayed! Darla now (January 2007) lists it as to be released on February 12, 2012!?!
Well, it's still Darla's intention to release this disc in 2007, but they have to coordinate this with any releases ATO Records wants to
put out. Now the "Okonokos" album and DVD are out there, Darla is in the clear to release it anytime now. Also, the tracklist will be as
above. The only difference will be the 2 Meter Session
version of "Lil Billy", and perhaps any additional improvements, such as unreleased period demos and the like.
Early 2006 the tracklist changed (as above); originally it was to be like this:
- The Way That He Sings (demo version)
- Hopefully (demo version)
- Just Because I Do (demo version)
- Bermuda Highway (demo version)
- Lowdown (demo version)
- Honest Man (demo version)
- At Dawn (demo version)
- I Needed It Most (demo version)
- Lead Me Father (demo version)
- Phone Went West (demo version)
- Chills (demo version)
- Just Because I Do (version 1)
- Heartbreakin Man (version 1)
- Evelyn Is Not Real (version 1)
- The Bear (version 2)
- If All Else Fails (version 1)
- Picture Of You (version 1)
- I Think I'm Going To Hell (version 1)
So, this means that the original "At Dawn" demos disc isn't rereleased in it's original running order, and also that one alternate
version from that disc has been deleted ("Honest Man"). Furthermore, the alternate versions of "Just Because I Do", "Evelyn Is Not Real",
and "If All Else Fails" have been deleted from the new tracklist. However, in return an 'intro', two unreleased songs ("Magic Man" and
"Lil Billy"), and three other alternate versions ("Butch Cassidy", "War Begun", and "Twilight") have been added!
